On June 17th the Salem Dojo sponsored a Kung Fu Panda Party. The first 60 children who signed up got to attend a free showing of the movie Kung Fu Panda. After the movie everyone walked three blocks down to the Dojo. What a sight! 70 + people walking down the street, many in karate gis. At the Dojo they held a Kung Fu Panda party, taught some cool moves and talked about the movie.
Joe Munden participated in a national charity event called Pink Lemonade Brigade, from which he raised $200 for JKFNW! The event requires participants to raise money for a charity or nonprofit organization. Planners supplied Joe with a lemonade stand and glasses of lemonade at no cost. Joe decorated the stand to represent karate with photos of tournament competitors and his own artwork. On the day of the event, Joe and his family sold lemonade and cookies at Top Foods, raising both money and awareness for JKFNW.
Sensei John and the Salem Dojo did a great job this year organizing and running the annual Gasshuku. We were also privelaged to have Sensei Kiyoshi Yamazaki run several of the sessions. Finally, we completed two promotions and hosted over a hundred students and their families.
